Neriglissar king of Babylon  - CY 3417

Creation Year: 3417  Western Year: 560 BC

Evilmerodach is murdered by Neriglissar (Nebuchadnezzar's son-in-law). This is Neriglissar's accession year. Neriglissar (rules 4 years) 559-556. Second person: Jeremiah 27:6-7.

In Daniel 5, Belshazzar promised to make Daniel the third ruler. Why third? Because he was co-regent with Nabonidus his father, making Belshazzar second king, like Pharaoh to Joseph, Genesis 41:39-43.

Cyrus takes Babylon  - CY 3439

Creation Year: 3439  Western Year: 538 BC

Cyrus the Persian took Babylon at 62, Daniel 5:30-31. This is his accession year for Babylon. Note: Cyrus and Darius are the same person here even though there are two "Darius" in scripture, however Darius the King's reign isn't for another few years. Jeremiah 27:6-7 is fulfilled.

Because Cyrus read of himself in the book of Isaiah (Isaiah 44:26-45:5 - which is not only a fulfillment of prophecy, but it tells us how he got into the city of Babylon, by drying up the rivers, which is historically exactly of what they did, and walked under the city gates!) He allowed the Jews to return home (II Chronicles 36:22-23), but according to Ezra 2:64-70 only 42,360 and 7,337 servants returned from Babylon, (Josephus has a different number which shows that he's not scripture) which isn't much considering how well they prospered. 50th year, one Jubilee, since the destruction of the Temple. Cyrus comes and takes over Babylon and rules 9 years (538 - 529 BC) Ezra 1:1, all of Israel can return to build the house of God.

Jeshua - rebuilding temple  - CY 3440

Creation Year: 3440  Western Year: 537 BC

Their second year of freedom, Jeshua (Yeshua in Hebrew - Jesus in English) set about to rebuild the temple! Jeshua was head of the ninth priestly order (Ezra 2:36); (I Chronicles 24:11). A Levite appointed by Hezekiah to distribute offerings in the priestly cities (II Chronicles 31:15). The son of Jozadak, and high priest of the Jews under Zerubbabel (Nehemiah 7:7; 12:1-26). From 1 Tishri on they offered burnt offerings and freewill offerings to the Lord. Ezra 3 says they built up an alter to God in the 7th month and kept the Feast of Tabernacles - odd that this is the first feast kept, Jesus' earthly birthday. Ezra 3:12 says that after the foundation was set, many that remember Solomon's temple wept bitterly (supposedly because it was smaller, cheap looking, and inferior.) This also shows that the length of time wasn't 70 years from destruction to rebuilding of the temple because if they were children during Solomon's temple they would not have gotten so emotional, but 60 or 70 year old men would, being 20-30 when captured.

Darius' 2nd year...  - CY 3458

Creation Year: 3458  Western Year: 519 BC

On Elul 1 came the word of the Lord to Haggai, Kislev 24 the foundation is complete and God says remember this day Haggai 2:10-18. It has been 70 years since the destruction of Temple. Zechariah 1:12-17, Av was the end of the 69th year and they were talking in the 11th month (Zechariah 1:7), the beginning of the 70th year was a month away. Haggai 1:13-14 in the second year of Darius they were "fired up" by Haggai to continuing rebuilding the temple. Haggai 2 asks if anyone is left that remembers the former glory of Solomon's Temple.

Zechariah, in the 11th month (Av) on the 24th day (24 Kislev 3242 - 7 Dec 519 BC - Julian - a Friday) he received the word of the Lord and saw a vision of angels and the Lord Himself. The Lord was angry that the heathen were at peace with His temple in ruins. The very fact that the Lord Himself brings up this point and the fact that 70 years is specifically mentioned shows that the "70 years" started at the destruction of the place His name dwells until this year, the second year of Darius. II Samuel 7:13, I Kings 5:5, I Kings 8:16-22, I Kings 9:3-11.

Artaxerxes' order... Daniel's Prophecy- CY 3520

Creation Year: 3520  Western Year: 457 BC

The order is given to Ezra (Ezra 7:9) to rebuild the city and establish a government (Ezra 7:25) (which is different from that of Cyrus which was to rebuild only the temple), this is the year of the fulfillment of Daniel's prophecy and the start of that same prophecy concerning the Messiah, Daniel 9:25-27. This happened 1 Nisan 3304 (Mar 26, 457 BC) (Ezra 7:9). In 483 years and 13 days, Jesus is "cut off" (Daniel 9:26) in the Jewish date of 14 Nisan 3787 (9 Apr 27 AD).

Nehemiah is free to go...  - CY 3533

Creation Year: 3533  Western Year: 444 BC

Nehemiah is free to go back to Jerusalem to continue the rebuilding of the city and government, Nehemiah 2:1, Nehemiah 5:14. Finally, for those that say that Ezra and Nehemiah's time was the same, I remind them of Nehemiah 13:6 when it shows that Nehemiah had returned to Persia, nothing says that he didn't do this several times. Therefore, he could have gone with Ezra the first time, and returned. We don't know, but since he was the King's cup bearer, it may have been a condition of the continued work that Ezra was doing. Finally, if you were to count this year as Daniel's prophecy fulfillment, Jesus would have died then in 40 AD! Never does scripture hint at a 30-34 AD death of Jesus.

Nehemiah asks to go...  - CY 3545

Creation Year: 3545  Western Year: 432 BC

Nehemiah asks to take leave of the king, Nehemiah 13:6.

194 Olympiad, 4th year is year 1 BC to 1 AD. 6

Josephus reports in Antiq. 14:14:5 that Herod was made king, to his surprise, at 15 years old (Antiq. 14:9:2), in the 184th Olympiad (the year is not mentioned but deduced from his death).

This is deduced by 1 BC - 1 AD InfoInformationFrom 1 Jan 1 BC to 1 Jan 1 AD is a single year. (there is no year zero) as being the 4th year of the 194th Olympiad (OL). This is represented below as 194.4 OL.

Herod made King  - CY 3936

Creation Year: 3936  Western Year: 41 BC

See the Creation Year 3921 for explanation.

Building of Herod's Temple  - CY 3954

Creation Year: 3954  Western Year: 23 BC

Josephus reports in Antiq. 15:11:1 that 18th year of Herod's reign was when the building of the temple began, that is 23 BC (3738 JY InfoInformationJewish Year). In Antiq. 15:11:6 it states that the priests finished building the temple in one year and six months, making it 22 BC (3739 JY InfoInformationJewish Year). 3739 + 46 years (John 9:20) = 3785 (25 AD). Perfect again! God is so wonderfully accurate in His word...

41 BC InfoInformationYear Herod became King - 18 InfoInformationHerod's 18th year as "king". = 23 BC.

Temple in Service - CY 3955 - 46 year Temple count

Creation Year: 3955  Western Year: 22 BC

Josephus reports in Antiq. 15:11:6 that the temple was completed by the priests and ready for business, a year and a half later.

This type of complication is why I use the Jewish calendar:
22 BC = 3739 JY InfoInformationJewish Year
3739 + 46 = 3785 JY InfoInformationJewish Year
3785 = 25 AD

John 2:19-21 "Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body."

Herod's 28th Year (192 OL)  - CY 3964

Creation Year: 3964  Western Year: 13 BC

Josephus reports in Antiq. 16:5:1 that the 28th year of Herod was the 192 Olympiad, so there are months differences because if you do the math, it would have fallen on 13 BC which is the 191th Olympiad (4th year) so we're talking months.
